"This page is an overview of the Wilpan/Wilpon family line.  Research suggests the family is most likely from Minsk, Belarus (formerly Russia).  Jacob Joseph also resided in Mena, Ukraine. The surname BALABAN appears in most searches involving the keyword WILPON or WILPAN.

Various birth dates listed in the detailed sections of the early family history are just guesses since good records were not kept or were lost.  The Ellis Island ship manifests are most likely incorrect regarding ages and spelling of names and should be interpreted with this in mind. 

Rachel Wilpon arrived in America around 1882 via the Galveston port.  Currently, no records are available. In fact, significant portions of the Galveston ship records from 1871-1894 have been lost.  An assumption has been used to relate the WILPAN & WILPON family line based on information from Warren Wilpan that Wolf Wilpan was from Minsk."

Isidore Wilpon was born in Russia (Ukraine), Chernigov, Mena in the province of Kiev.  He celebrated his birthday on 10/25/1899.  He died on 01/27/1972.  He married Miriam "Mary" Kessler on 06/10/1925.  Miriam was born in 1900 in Grodno Simiatich Poland and died 03/04/1949.

Lena Wilpon born in 1888 and died 05/04/1982.  She never married.

Esther Wilpon Epstein was born between 1888 - 1892

Rose Wilpon Cohen born in 1892.

Miriam "Mary" Wilpon Goldman celebrated her birthday as 07/15/1898.  She died on 07/25/1953.  She married Samuel Goldman who was born in 1897.  Sam died on 03/04/1935.

Beatrice Wilpon Goldman was born on 11/10/1917 and died on 09/27/1997.  She married Irving Katz who was born 09/17/1916.

Nathan Wilpon Goldman was born on 02/15/1919 and died 04/01/1999.  He married Paula Weiner 12/17/1925. 

Steven Goldman was born on 05/07/1948.

Susan Goldman Fidel was born 02/15/195.  She is married to Robert Fidel who was born 04/03/1950.

Albert Wilpon Goldman was born 04/09/1928 and was residing in Livingston, New Jersey.  He married Evelyn Schwartz who was born on 08/19/1928.  She died in 1996.

Abraham Wilpon born on 07/14/1906 and died on 06/02/1969.  He married Rebecca "Bobbi" Hittner who was born on 02/20/1910.  She died on 08/12/2000.

Judy Wilpon Batterman was born 02/20/1938.  She married Dr.

Steven Batterman on 03/29/1959.  He was born on 08/05/1937.

Scott David Batterman was born 07/01/1960 and married Caren Rubin on 07/13/1985.

Risa Karen Dera was born 03/05/1963.

Daniel Adam Batterman was born on 02/07/1967

Esther Wilpon Egers was born on 03/14/1926.  She married Tenney Egers on 03/23/1946.  She died on 03/16/2001 and Tenney died on 12/17/1985.

Meryl Wilpon Egers was born 02/08/1950.

Lilian Wilpon was born on 06/01/1927.  She died on 03/31/1978.  She was married to Bernie Kessler.

Abraham David "Alby" Wilpon was born on 01/18/1931 and married Arlette Guerraz (resided in Switzerland.  She was born 10/09/1923 and died 08/02/2000.

Barbara Wilpon Kuntz born 10/06/1935 and married Bob Kuntz who was born on 04/07/1933.  Residing in New Jersey.

Paul Wilpon Kane is a brother to Mark & Bruce Kuntz. 

Jacob Joseph (Jack) Wilpon was born on 02/04/1941.  On 02/20/1965 he married Barbara Stephanie Davidoff who was born on 11/16/1943.  They live in Richardson Texas.

Matthew Robert Wilpon was born on 10/04/1967

Melissa Rochelle Wilpon was born on 11/29/1969

Leah Hannah Comisar was born on 06/30/2005.

Maya Elise Comisar was born on 06/14/2006.

Joanne Ilene Wilpon Goldblatt was born on 04/24/1972
